AstonRep Theatre Company Presents THE LARAMIE PROJECT June 7th - July 8th

AstonRep Theatre Company is pleased to conclude its 2017-18 season with THE LARAMIE PROJECT, a community's deeply-moving response to the 1998 murder of gay University of Wyoming student Matthew Shepard, written by Moisés Kaufman and the Members of Tectonic Theater Project and directed by Associate Artistic Director Derek Bertelsen. THE LARAMIE PROJECT will play June 7 – July 8, 2018 at The Raven Theatre (West Stage), 6157 N. Clark St. in Chicago. Tickets are currently available at www.astonrep.com or by calling (773) 828-9129. The Second City Celebrates Pride Month & Improv Brunch Returns

The Second City is proud to announce a June run for “The Second City’s Let’s Make It Perfectly Queer: A Salute to Pride,” a sketch show performed entirely by an all -LGBTQIA cast. Under the direction of Mick Napier with musical direction by Nick Gage, “Let’s Make It Perfectly Queer” is Second City’s first foray into celebrating all things Pride with a rainbow of classic and original sketches featuring an inclusive cast: Corey Caldwell, George David Elrod, Lanny Fox, Maya Haughton, Claudia Martinez and Riley Mondragon.

Victory Gardens Theater concludes its 43rd season with Mies Julie, written by Yaël Farber, directed by Dexter Bullard, and adapted from August Strindberg’s Miss Julie. Mies Julie runs May 25 – June 24, 2018, with the press performance on Friday, June 1, 2018 at 7:30pm at Victory Gardens Theater, 2433 N. Lincoln Avenue.

Casting was announced today for THE TWO GENTLEMEN OF VERONA - Midsommer Flight’s seventh summer of free Shakespeare performances as an Arts Partner in Chicago Park District parks. The company’s Founding Artistic Director Beth Wolf, who will direct Shakespeare’s comedy, made the announcement today. THE TWO GENTLEMEN OF VERONA will play two weekends each in four different Chicago parks.

Underscore Theatre and The Den Theatre are pleased to announce casting for an all-new staging of the Jeff Award-nominated Best New Musical HAYMARKET (formerly Haymarket: The Anarchist’s Songbook), the true story of Chicago’s infamous Haymarket massacre. With book, music and lyrics by Alex Higgin-Houser and David Kornfeld, the actors accompany themselves to the stirring folk-infused score. Having spent the last two years workshopping the show, the authors alongside director Nick Thornton and music director Robert Ollis have crafted an all-new theatrical experience – creating new songs, overhauling the book, and like the union workers from the show, building anew.

HAMILTON: THE EXHIBITION – a 360-degree, immersive exhibit that will travel to select U.S. cities -- will premiere in Chicago in the fall of 2018 for a limited engagement, it has been announced by Lin-Manuel Miranda, creator of the musical HAMILTON, and Jeffrey Seller, the musical’s producer. HAMILTON: THE EXHIBITION – on display in a specially-constructed free-standing, all-weather structure the size of a football field -- opens November 17, 2018 for a limited engagement on Northerly Island in Chicago, where HAMILTON has played a sold-out run since 2016.
