BOHO THEATRE OPENS 2018 SEASON WITH CYRANO, A FRESH REIMAGINING OF THE CLASSIC LOVE STORY

BoHo Theatre opens its 2018 season with the Chicago premiere of CYRANO, adapted by Michael Hollinger and Aaron Posner, based on the play by Edmond Rostand, and directed by BoHo Artistic Affiliate Steve O’Connell. This sharp, lean, nine-person translation of the classic French love story keeps the poetry, but ditches the pretension to create a work full of energy, passion, and theatrical artistry.

As its inaugural production LIZZIE enters its final two weeks of performances, Firebrand Theatre is pleased to announce casting for the second and final production of its inaugural season, the musical comedy 9 TO 5 THE MUSICAL, playing April 7 – May 20, 2018 at The Den Theatre's Bookspan Theatre, 1333 N. Milwaukee Ave. in Chicago’s Wicker Park neighborhood. Firebrand is the first musical theatre company committed to employing and empowering women by expanding opportunities on and off the stage.

Fin Coe and Stephanie Shum Named The New Colony’s New Co-Artistic Directors

The Board of Directors of The New Colony is pleased to announce the appointment of Fin Coe and Stephanie Shum as the company’s new Co-Artistic Directors. Coe and Shum succeed Founding Members and Co-Artistic Directors Andrew Hobgood and Evan Linder, who will step down in January 2018 at the conclusion of the company’s ninth season.

The all-new Chicago Shakespeare Slam unleashes students’ creativity on a classic

Students are no strangers to Chicago Shakespeare—we serve 40,000 annually through our Team Shakespeare education program. But did you know students perform on our stage? In December, over 300 high school students from across Chicagoland were singing, dancing, cheering, and performing Shakespeare to a sold-out audience in the Courtyard Theater.

Blue Man Group will kick off 2018 with the announcement of additional performances on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Valentine’s Day and Presidents’ Day at Chicago’s Briar Street Theatre (3133 N. Citadel Theatre will continue its 2017-18 season with Laura Eason’s SEX WITH STRANGERS, in its first area production since its 2009 and 2011 stagings at Steppenwolf Theatre. The play received its World Premiere as part of Steppenwolf’s “First Look Repertory of New Work” in 2009 and was restaged as one of the company’s regular season offerings in 2011.
