Promethean's "Gross Indecency: The Three Trials of Oscar Wilde"


Promethean’s critically-acclaimed production of Moisés Kaufman’s historical drama GROSS INDECENCY: THE THREE TRIALS OF OSCAR WILDE, which enjoyed a two-week run in December 2016, will be remounted from February 15 through March 23, 2019 at Strawdog Theatre, 1809 W. Berenice. GROSS INDECENCY, which Promethean Artistic Director Brian Pastor will again direct, will be performed with cross-gender casting in some roles, as it was in the company’s earlier production. Promethean Ensemble Member Jamie Bragg will reprise her leading role as Oscar Wilde.

Chicago Shakespeare Theater announces casting for "Short Shakespeare! Macbeth"


Chicago Shakespeare Theater announces the cast and creative team for Short Shakespeare! Macbeth, a 75-minute abridged production of William Shakespeare’s tale of political intrigue and personal ambition. Adapted and directed by Marti Lyons and featuring a dynamic ensemble cast, the production will be performed for the public on Saturdays at 11:00 a.m., February 16–March 16, 2019. After each performance, the actors remain on stage for a question-and-answer session, before joining the audience in the Lobby for one-on-one conversations and photo opportunities.

'DJEMBE! The Show' makes U.S. debut at Apollo Theater, beginning March 19

Following a smash-hit international tour, the new, interactive theatrical event, DJEMBE! The Show, makes its U.S. debut at the Apollo Theater (2540 N. Lincoln Avenue, Chicago), for a strictly limited engagement starting performances on March 19, 2019 (with an official premiere on Thursday, April 11, at 7:30 p.m.). DJEMBE! (JEM-bay) will engage audiences in a high-energy program of powerful storytelling and inspiring music, including iconic pop hits. Leading this lively musical journey will be the trio of Broadway talent Ben Hope (Once) as Emcee; critically-acclaimed Chicago musical theater artist Rashada Dawan (Caroline, or Change) on lead vocals; and Guinean master drummer and folklorist Fodé Lavia Camara, backed by an ensemble of world-class musicians.



Broadway In Chicago is delighted to announce tickets for ANASTASIA, the romantic and adventure-filled new musical inspired by the beloved film, will go on sale on Friday, January 25. ANASTASIA will make its Chicago debut at Broadway In Chicago’s James M. Nederlander Theatre (24 W. Randolph) for a limited two-week engagement March 26 through April 7, 2019.
