Interactive Exhibit Bead Town: Along the South Shore: An Attempt to Break new Guinness World Records®

Nearly 15 million recycled Mardi Gras beads and thousands of participants will create a mural depicting northwest Indiana and Chicagoland at the Bead Town: Along the South Shore exhibit. The mural will highlight dozens of historic and iconic locations that make up the landscapes along the southern shores of Lake Michigan. The 3,311 square foot mural is the newest artwork by Bead Town and will attempt to set a Guinness World Records®.

The vibrant comedy hub of Chicago, Stage 773, is proud to host the 6th Annual Chicago Nerd Comedy Festival, taking place beginning Thursday, May 17 through Sunday, May 20 at 1225 W. Belmont. Featuring an eclectic line up of shows and events, the Chicago Nerd Comedy Festival celebrates all that is the Chicago nerd comedy scene. Nerds will unite for one glorious weekend in Chicago to laugh, pay homage, and perhaps worship their favorite genres of nerd-ness. Now in its sixth year, the festival is better than ever, featuring an expansive schedule of shows, a day of panels and workshops, and exciting events to unite performers, audiences, and artists alike in nerd comedy central.

PARKWAY BANK PARK ANNOUNCES LINEUP FOR “ROCKIN’ IN THE PARK” 2018 FREE SUMMER CONCERT SERIES DATES

Rosemont’s Parkway Bank Park entertainment district (5501 Park Place, Rosemont) will celebrate the summer season with the return of the “Rockin’ in the Park” free summer concert series. The weekly series is scheduled to begin Sunday, May 27 with a special Memorial Day cookout and live concert event beginning at 3 p.m. Free concerts will continue on Thursday evenings from May 31 through August 30, featuring music by classic cover bands, food and beverage tents on the park’s great lawn and a musical fireworks display after every show.

Julia Sweeney: Older and Wider to run in The Second City’s e.t.c. Theater April 24 – May 30

The Second City announced today that SNL vet Julia Sweeney’s one-woman show Julia Sweeney: Older and Wider will move to the theater’s e.t.c. stage for a six-week run beginning April 24, 2018. Sweeney has been honing her first-ever stand-up show in front of live audiences since she began a January workshop run in one of Second City’s studio theater spaces. Julia Sweeney: Old and Wider will run on the e.t.c. stage at The Second City April 24 – May 30, 2018. The press opening is May 2 at 8pm.
