
The Schaumburg Boomers dropped a 5-0 decision to the Joliet Slammers in a game that was delayed by rain for over two hours on Wednesday night at Wintrust Field.
Joliet scored a single run in the second inning and managed just one hit through six innings against Schaumburg starter Andrew Dean. Dean retired eight in a row and 14-of-15 entering the seventh before the Slammers totaled four runs to open a 5-0 lead. Dean allowed just three earned runs in 6.1 innings, striking out six. Isaiah Rivera worked the final two innings, striking out four in a row and retiring all six batters faced. The Boomers stranded 10 on base in the contest, finishing with six hits. Alec Craig reached four times with two hits, a walk and a hit by pitch.
The Boomers (38-35) conclude the brief three-game series at home with a quick turnaround as the teams play again at 12:05 p.m. on Thursday.
