Gary schools are headed in the right direction. Grades based on state tests have held steady, enrollment has stabilized, and the school district’s deficit has decreased from $22 million to $6 million.
The Art Barn School of Art recently closed submissions for an online art exhibition in which artists were invited to submit artworks completed during COVID-19 restrictions. Sixty-four artworks were submitted by 35 artists including many paintings, drawings, prints and photographs, as well as sculptures, ceramics and digital media. Submissions were primarily from regional artists, but a few artists live as far away as New Hampshire and Montana!

Attorney General Curtis Hill today applauded a U.S. appellate court’s decision to uphold the conviction of John Robert Myers II, the killer of Indiana University student Jill Behrman.
Judy Gregurich and Mark Montgomery will be offering a Beginning Stained Glass Class starting on Tuesday, August 18 from 7-9 p.m. During this 8-week class, students will learn the art of copper foil stained glass, originally invented by Louis Tiffany. Tools and supplies are included. The cost for class is $250, with members receiving a $20 discount. Student must wear a mask and practice social distancing for this in-person class. A minimum of 6 students is required to hold the class. All students MUST register and pay prior to the first class.
The Indiana Prosecuting Attorneys Council is devastated to learn of the passing of Floyd County Prosecutor Keith Henderson. An elected prosecutor in two different southern Indiana counties, Henderson was also a vital resource for IPAC, serving on the Board of Directors, representing IPAC at national events and teaching at many IPAC conferences and trainings over the years. He will be dearly missed.
