June 10, 1816 The Constitutional Convention met for the first day in Corydon. There were 43 delegates from 15 counties.
June 11, 1988 The Indianapolis Zoo opened in its new location at Whiter River Park.
June 13, 1842 The carriage carrying former President Martin Van Buren was overturned into the mud near Plainfield. It was a joke played upon Van Buren, who had vetoed a bill to improve the national road. The nearby elm tree became known as the Van Buren Elm.
