With restaurants, stores, and communities starting to slowly reopen, many questions have been asked about when and how the library will open its doors again. Our goal is to restore services to the community while protecting the health and safety of staff and patrons. It is a process that has to be done safely and correctly using science-based strategies and phases.

Bishop Noll Institute finds new ways to celebrate Class of 2020
Although graduation looked different for the Bishop Noll Institute Class of 2020, the spirit of joy and celebration remained. On June 4, the school celebrated its 94 graduates with an outdoor ceremony, livestream Mass and pre-recorded commencement program.

Legacy Foundation Hires Community Development Director and Program Coordinator
The South Shore Neighborhood Development Corporation (SSNDC), managed by Legacy Foundation, gained two new employees. Donna Catalano joined as Community Development Director and Marie Pittman as Program Coordinator for Lake County Eats Local, a program of the SSNDC.

THEATRE AT THE CENTER POSTPONES “Ain’t Misbehavin’ ” PERFORMANCE RUN
Indiana Governor Holcomb’s announced “phases for reopening” directive and the possibility for a change in gathering size guidelines has prompted Theatre at the Center (TATC) to postpone its July/August run of “Ain’t Misbehavin’ –The Fats Waller Musical.” The safety and health of patrons, performers and staff remains the highest priority and the production, which was scheduled for July 9-Aug. 9, 2020, will be rescheduled for a later TATC Mainstage Season date run TBA.
UPDATE: Swimmer’s body recovered from water at White Rock Park (Shelby County)
The swimmer recovered from the water at White Water Park yesterday has been identified as Lucius Chitty, 19, of Georgia. Chitty was pronounced deceased at the hospital, and family notification has been made. An autopsy is scheduled for today to determine cause of death.
Second Wrong-Way Driver Crashes, Arrested for OWI This Week
NEWTON COUNTY- For the second time in a week, Trooper Carlson had to cover a crash involving a wrong-way driver on an interstate highway in Northwest Indiana.
