
The suspect has been identified as Dillon Gard, 30, from Crawfordsville, IN. Gard is still in an Indianapolis area hospital, and his condition is serious but stable.
This is an ongoing investigation. No further information will be released at this time.
All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Upon completion of the investigation, information will be forwarded to the Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office for review.

Montgomery County – The Indiana State Police are investigating an officer involved shooting that occurred at a Crawfordsville, IN residence following a nearly seven-hour standoff with an armed suspect.
This afternoon, around 2:15 p.m., the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department responded to a domestic battery call at a residence on State Road 47, south of County Road 275 east. Upon arriving at the residence, a deputy was able to get an adult female out of the home. Further investigation revealed that a male subject had barricaded himself inside the residence and was in possession of a firearm. Officers immediately set up a perimeter around the residence, and Montgomery County Multi Jurisdiction SWAT Team was contacted.
Once the Montgomery County Multi Jurisdiction SWAT Team arrived on scene, they immediately began negotiations with the suspect. Shortly after SWAT arrived, multiple shots were fired from the suspect inside the residence and in the direction of officers. Montgomery County requested the assistance of the Indiana State Police. Indiana State Police SWAT Team and Hostage Negotiation Team responded to the scene.
Around 8:30 p.m., the suspect came to the window with a firearm and reportedly pointed it at officers. An officer from the Montgomery County Multi Jurisdiction SWAT Team fired his weapon, striking the suspect. Indiana State Police SWAT Team immediately made entry into the residence, located the suspect, and provided medical assistance. Montgomery County EMS, which was already on scene, immediately began providing medical care to the suspect. The suspect was transported to IU Hospital in Crawfordsville, where there was a lifeline helicopter waiting. The suspect was transported by helicopter to an Indianapolis area hospital.
Detectives from the Indiana State Police Lafayette Post are leading the investigation into the officer involved shooting. The Montgomery County Sheriff's Department is handling the investigation into the domestic battery.
Identity of the suspect and the officer involved will be forthcoming.
