The suspect has been identified as Kirklan Allen Conley, 22 of Lafayette. The cause of death is a self-inflicted single gunshot wound. Family has been notified.

Tippecanoe County-This evening at about 7:18 p.m. Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s Department dispatch received a 911 call of shots fired at the Family Express Station located at 3105 Old IN 25 Lafayette.
Officers from the Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s Department arrived on scene and discovered one subject deceased inside the station and one armed suspect outside by the gas pumps. Deputies attempted to detain the subject and shots were fired and the suspect is now deceased.
The investigation is being conducted by the Indiana State Police Lafayette Post at the request of Tippecanoe County Sheriff Bob Goldsmith. There is no danger to the public. This is an ongoing investigation and no further information will be released at this time.
Assisting at the scene were Detectives and Troopers from the Lafayette Post, Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s Department, Tippecanoe County Prosecutor’s Office, Tippecanoe County EMS and Indiana State Police Crime Scene Investigators.
Suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
