
The Northwestern Indiana Regional Planning Commission (NIRPC) will hold a 21-day public comment period on a proposed amendment to the Transportation Improvement Program (TIP): Invest NWI. The comment period begins February 3 and ends February 23, 2026.

The proposed amendment makes the following changes:
- Moves 5 transit projects from Fiscal Year 2026 to Fiscal Year 2027
- Corrects funding program for 1 transit project from STBG to 5307
- Revises the lump sum cost of 1 transit project; the overall project cost does not change
Invest NWI is the federally required “Transportation Improvement Program” that schedules the funding of various projects utilizing Federal Highway and/or Transit money.

All comments received during the 21-day public comment period will be compiled into a public comment report and responded to. This report will be made available to the public and distributed to the relevant NIRPC committees prior to any action on this item. It is anticipated that action will be taken at the March 3, 2026, meeting of the Transportation Committee, followed by the March 19 meeting of the NIRPC Executive Board.
