Block Captains help out by forwarding this newsletter to their neighbors and friends in an effort to keep them informed about recent crime activity and prevention tips, while also attending quarterly Crime Watch Meetings when they can.
In addition, a number of our Block Captains also volunteer their time by serving on Munster’s Choice Community Council, which is an open forum for any Munster resident who would like to help organize plans for events or programs aimed at drug, crime, gang, and violence prevention in Munster. The Choice Council organizes events such as the National Night Out Against Crime Celebration, women’s self-defense classes, the Red Ribbon Week Poster Contest for kids, and various special speakers for the public on topics such as drug prevention, bullying, and more.
The Choice Community Council also meets quarterly during the year. A number of our Neighborhood Crime Watch Captains have served in the program for over 15 years now and have helped to promote safety throughout Munster.
