
A traffic stop was conducted as the vehicle exited onto Kennedy Ave., however the vehicle continued to travel southbound on Kennedy at 20 mph for approximately a mile as Trooper Carlson followed with his emergency lights and siren activated. The vehicle finally stopped after pulling into a local business.
As Trooper Carlson spoke to the driver several indicators of possible impairment were brought to his attention. Trooper Carlson asked the driver to step out of the vehicle and the driver refused. After several attempts to convince the driver to voluntarily exit the vehicle, the driver continued to refuse to comply. Trooper Carlson then removed the driver from the vehicle and placed him under arrest.
The driver, identified as Daniel Jamie, 51 years of age from Highland, IN, refused a certified chemical test for intoxication. Mr. Jamie was then transported to the Lake County Jail for processing. While at the jail being booked, Mr. Jamie had in his possession twelve $100 bills . Those bills were determined to be counterfeit and placed into evidence.
Mr. Jamie is charged with the following:
- Forgery- Level 6 Felony
- Resisting Law Enforcement- Class A Misdemeanor
- O.W.I. (Endangerment)- Class A Misdemeanor
- Reckless Driving- Class C Misdemeanor
- Failure to Yield to Law Enforcement, Failure to Signal Lane Change, Improper Display of License Plate and Unsafe Lane Movement- Infractions
