Tippecanoe County – Just before midnight on January 23, 2026, Trooper Bradley Howell was patrolling near the 169-mile marker on Interstate 65 when he attempted to stop a 2020 Porsche Macan for traveling northbound at over 100 mph in a 65 mph zone. Trooper Howell caught up to the vehicle as it entered a parking lot near South Street and Interstate 65. While attempting to stop the vehicle in the parking lot, an object was reportedly thrown from the car, and it fled back onto South Street at a high rate of speed.

Trooper Howell pursued the vehicle from South Street back onto I-65 northbound, continuing the pursuit to the 178-mile marker. The vehicle exited I-65 northbound onto State Road 43, where it came to a stop near the Speedway Gas Station. Both occupants fled on foot but were later located and taken into custody.

The driver was identified as Dallas Garnett, 30, of East Chicago, Indiana. During the investigation, Trooper Howell gathered evidence indicating that Garnett was under the influence of a controlled substance. Garnett also had active warrants for his arrest from Porter and Lake Counties.
