All materials are included in the tuition and will be picked up from the Art Center once at the beginning of each month. Classes are designed for preschool, elementary, home school, middle school, and high school ages. Students of all ages will actively participate in learning, while studying one of the major movements of modern art history each month. All classes will include drawing throughout the month in some form. Students will be exposed to a mix of mediums, including painting, printmaking, sculpture, collage, drawing, weaving, paper arts, and more.

The schedule of classes is as follows:

Monday 1:30-3:00 p.m., Home School 8-15-year-olds

Monday 3:30-5 p.m., Elementary 8-12-year-olds

Tuesday 1-2 p.m., Preschool & Kindy 3-5-year-olds

Tuesday 4-5:30 p.m., Elementary 5-8 year-olds

Wednesday 3:30-5 p.m., Elementary 5-8 year-olds

Thursday 1:30-3 p.m., Ages 8-15 year-olds

Thursday 3:30-5:00 p.m., Middle School 5th-8th grades

Thursday 5:30-7:00 p.m., Teens 13-18 years old

Tuition is $90 per month for high school, middle school, elementary, and home school students (the member rate is $70), and $75 for preschool & kindergarten students (the member rate is $55). Preschoolers will need assistance from someone at home. Families must be current members of the Chesterton Art Center to receive the member rate.

October classes begin on Thursday, October 1. The deadline to register is Monday, September 28. The supply pick-up date is Tuesday, September 29, from 3:30-5:30 p.m. outside of the Chesterton Art Center. Miss Jen will be available at the pick-up for any questions or concerns. For any who are unable to pick up at that time, they will need to stop by the Art Center during regular business hours. Any supplies left from the month are kept by the student. Students must register and pay before the first class.

In October, students will be focused on the element of color in our children’s classes. We will be discussing the Neo-Impressionism movement, which is the time after Impressionism when artists like Seurat explored the technique of pointillism. Students can look forward to some fun paint projects! Classes will not meet on Thursday, October 22, (Fall Break), and a make-up date for that class will be announced.

To register, stop in, call, or visit Eventbrite.com and search Chesterton Art Center. For questions, please call the Chesterton Art Center at 219-926-4711.
