On Friday, December 13, 2019, the North Township presented for the very first time and in front of its largest audience to date in Griffith, Indiana. Over 1,100 students were in attendance from Griffith Middle School and High School to learn about staying safe in our modern technologically-driven world.
“The No More Secrets campaign is about protecting our children. The program educates, enables, and empowers these conversations about body safety, internet safety and phone responsibility and is designed to protect our children from predators. It also allows silenced victims to understand that they are not alone, find their voice and realize help is on the way through professional resources in our communities,” says North Township Trustee, Frank J. Mrvan. No More Secrets goes beyond educating our youth, it creates an open dialogue for students to open up about struggles in a safe environment.
We are continuing to protect our children and are saving souls. To date, we have reached over 15,000 children at schools in Griffith, Munster, Highland, Whiting, Hammond and East Chicago. According to Rosie Quintanilla, "There is an ongoing need to help teachers identify children who may be suffering silently as victims of sexual abuse."
