Brandi started as an intern and was offered employment upon completion of her internship. Brandi has worked many professional roles during her time with The Caring Place; from part-time Client Assistant to full-time overnight staff.
Prior to taking on the role of Shelter Director, Brandi worked as the Porter County Legal Advocate. As Porter County Legal Advocate, Brandi assisted in developing and implementing two new services; the Protective Order Project and Men Embracing Change. The Protective Order Project is an expansion on The Caring Place’s longstanding partnership with the Porter County Courts. This service allows the Courts to immediately contact The Caring Place advocates to assist petitioners who are actively filing for Protective Orders. Men Embracing Change is an expansion on The Caring Place’s partnership with the Porter County Sheriff Department. For many years, The Caring Place has facilitated a domestic violence program offered only to incarcerated females. Men Embracing Change is an informative and preventative program offered to incarcerated males. The content of both programs includes: domestic violence facts, healthy relationships, healthy conflict resolution, and healthy coping skills.
Brandi has received multiple awards for her commitment and contributions; in 2017 she received the Sheriff's Award from Porter County Sheriff's Department and in 2019 she received a Certificate of Appreciation from the Porter County Council.
