Lucy is a 13-month old German Shepherd who has been trained in narcotics detection and patrol.  The patrol function of the training is handler protection, tracking, building and area searches, and criminal apprehension.  Lucy and her handler, Officer Brett Scheffel (pictured right), spent the last several weeks in Image result for Munster Police Department Welcomes New K-9 “Lucy”training together, learning to work as a team.  They will be be utilized to search for narcotics, on search warrants, and assisting the Patrol Division when needed.

In addition, they will also participate in community outreach programs.  We wish to express our sincerest gratitude to our entire community for your donations which made this new K-9 possible.  Please make plans to attend our Crime Watch Meeting on January 23rd at 7pm at the Town Hall where K-9 Lucy will be introduced to the public.
