An off-duty Jasper County Deputy located the vehicle near the 189 MM and attempted to make a traffic stop. The vehicle was being driven by Courtney Pauley, 33, of Sheridan, IN. When the Jasper County Deputy activated his emergency lights, the vehicle failed to stop and continued northbound at a low speed. A Brookston Officer joined the pursuit, which continued northbound on Interstate 65 for a mile and a half. At the 190.5 mile-marker, Pauley ran off the road, and officers on scene safely took her into custody.
Trooper Whitten and Trooper Wiley arrived on scene and located multiple empty pill bottles in the vehicle. Further investigation revealed that Pauley was under the influence of a controlled substance. At that point, an ambulance arrived on scene and transported Pauley to a Lafayette area hospital. Pauley was medically cleared and Trooper Whitten transported her to White County jail.

- Resisting Law Enforcement with a Vehicle- Level 6 Felony
- Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated (Endangerment) – Class A Misdemeanor
Trooper Whitten was assisted on scene by Trooper Brown, Trooper Michael, Trooper Wiley, Jasper County Sherriff’s Department, White County Sherriff’s Department, Brookston Police Department, White County EMS, and Farney's Towing.
