Merrillville– The Lake County Public Library has been awarded a $1,400 CARES Act mini-grant through the Indiana State Library. This grant will go towards purchasing children's eBooks for aiding in the support of schools with students in K-12 that are learning through elearning and/or remote learning. The eBooks will be available through the SORA app, which is a student reading app that links directly to the Lake County Public Library with just their student ID. Hobart and Merrillville schools have already linked their schools to this app in cooperation with the Lake County Public Library. For students whose school does not participate with the SORA program, the eBooks will be available using the library's Libby app, which allows users to download eBooks using their library card number. If any other schools in Lake County Public Library's district would like to use the SORA program, they are encouraged to contact the Lake County Public Library.
