The Munster Police Department has received several calls from residents advising that they had received phone calls from an individual falsely claiming to be “Officer Nate Martin from the Munster Police Department” while stating that the resident had missed jury duty. The suspect also advised that they had a warrant for their arrest for missing the jury duty.
PLEASE NOTE that this is a scam and if you receive similar phone calls, HANG UP IMMEDIATELY.
These types of scammers will attempt to get you to pay money to satisfy a “fine” or “bond” to stop them from coming to “arrest” you at work or at home and are often very good at scaring residents into doing so. Please hang up right away and do not allow them into intimidating you into providing any personal information or money.
Please contact the police department if you have any concerns.
