
White County — This morning, just after 12:30 a.m., Indiana State Police responded to a single vehicle fatal crash on Interstate 65 near the 198 mile marker.
A preliminary investigation indicates that a 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche was traveling southbound in the left lane when the driver lost control of the vehicle. The Chevrolet traveled off the west side of the roadway, struck a guardrail, and overturned before coming to rest.
A passenger in the Chevrolet was pronounced deceased at the scene by the White County Coroner’s Office. The individual’s name will be released by the White County Coroner once positive identification has been made and next of kin have been notified.
The remaining occupants of the vehicle were transported to Lafayette area hospitals with non life threatening injuries.
Indiana State Police were assisted at the scene by the White County Sheriff’s Office, Wolcott Fire Department, Wolcott EMS, and Jasper County EMS.
