Curt Cignetti said he had a feeling about No. 7 Indiana’s match-up at No. 3 Oregon Saturday in Eugene, and the Hoosiers’ head coach proved prophetic.
The Hoosiers earned their first-ever road win over a top-5 team, beating the Ducks 30-20. The win propelled the Hoosiers to 6-0 overall and into a first-place tie in the Big Ten at 3-0. Oregon, meanwhile, dropped its first Big Ten game since joining the conference in 2024 and slipped to 5-1 overall and 2-1 in the Big Ten.
Quarterback Fernando Mendoza guided the Hoosier offense, completing 20 of 31 passes for 215 yards, including an eight-yard touchdown pass to Elijah Sarratt with 6:23 that put IU on top 27-20. Two plays later, it was then the defense that came through with a pivotal play. Louis Moore intercepted a Dante Moore pass with six minutes remaining, setting the stage for Nico Radicic’s 22-yard field goal that all but ended Oregon’s chances.
Sarratt finished with 121 yards on eight catches, while Roman Hemby led the IU ground attack with 70 yards and two scores. Defensively, IU sacked Moore six times, picked him off twice, and limited Oregon to 267 yards. Aiden Fisher finished with a team-high 13 tackles and 1 ½ sacks.
The Hoosiers return home next Saturday for a match-up with Michigan State for Homecoming. The game is sold out, but fans can still explore secondary ticket market options such as SeatGeek below.
