• GRANDPARENT SCAM - The suspect will contact you pretending to be a relative, usually a grandson, while advising that they were in a car accident or were arrested and need money wired to them. Always hang up and call your relative directly to check on them.
• COMPUTER SCAM - The suspect will call you advising that your email address or computer was hacked, and that you could be the victim of identity theft. The suspect will either attempt to gain remote access to your computer (where they will steal personal and account information) or they will advise you that you need to purchase gift cards and call them back with the numbers to fix the situation. Always hang-up on these scams immediately.
• FBI/IRS SCAM - The suspect will call you advising that they are from the IRS or FBI, and that you either owe outstanding taxes or have an active warrant. They will also advise you to purchase gift cards and call them back with the redemption codes. Always hang-up right away and call 911 if you need assistance.
