
Tippecanoe County – This afternoon, around 1:30 p.m., troopers from the Indiana State Police Lafayette Post responded to a fatal crash on State Road 43, just south of County Road 600 North.
A preliminary investigation conducted by Trooper Fike revealed that a pedestrian was attempting to cross State Road 43 near the Speedway and Phillips 66 gas stations. At that time, a school bus was traveling northbound in the left lane and struck the pedestrian.
The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Tippecanoe County Coroner’s Office. The individual’s identity will be released at a later time after positive identification has been made and next of kin have been notified.
No other injuries were reported. There were no students on the school bus at the time of the crash, which was operated by the Tippecanoe School Corporation.
This incident remains an active and ongoing investigation by the Indiana State Police Crash Reconstruction Team. No further information is available at this time.
