Chicago Fire FC Weekly Update: Oct. 19-25 Fire to take on the New York Red Bulls at home on Saturday

The pregame show, presented by CIBC, will begin at 6:15 p.m. CT. The Chicago Fire Foundation, the charitable arm of the Chicago Fire, will host the Club’s first-ever virtual fundraiser, “RAISE for P.L.A.Y.S.,” that will coincide with the Fire vs. Red Bulls broadcast. The Fire (5-8-5, 20 points) is unbeaten in five of its last six matches (3-1-2), including five straight games without a loss at Soldier Field (3-0-2). Most recently, the team battled Sporting Kansas City to a 2-2 draw at home on Saturday, scoring in the 95th minute. Forward Robert Berić opened the scoring for the Fire, notching his team-high eighth goal of the season, which ranks tied as the fourth-most in MLS. On the final play of the game, midfielder Djordje Mihailović scored the game-tying goal to notch his second of the season.

With the draw against Sporting KC, the Fire moved back into a playoff position in the Eastern Conference, with several league matches to be played later today. The contest against the Red Bulls will mark the 60th all-time meeting between the two sides. The Fire currently lead the head-to-head regular season series with a 28-19-12 record, including a 16-5-9 mark at home. Last season, the Fire defeated the Red Bulls 1-0 at home on March 30, 2019, before suffering a 3-1 loss at Red Bull Arena on June 28, 2019.

The Red Bulls (7-8-3, 24 points) are currently in seventh place in the Eastern Conference standings and unbeaten in its last two games. Seventeen-year-old homegrown midfielder Caden Clark led the Red Bulls to a 1-0 win over Atlanta United FC on October 10 and a 1-1 draw with Toronto FC on October 14, scoring back-to-back goals in his first two professional starts. Prior to facing the Fire, the Red Bulls will face Orlando City SC at Red Bull Arena at 6:00 p.m. CT today.
