  1. Home

Fri, 12/20/2019 - 4:22pm by laughingcat

Chicago Fire FC today announced the Club’s 34-game schedule for the 2020 MLS regular season. The Fire will open the 2020 season on the road against the reigning MLS Cup champions Seattle Sounders FC in a nationally televised contest on Sunday, March 1. Set to begin at 2:00 p.m. CT, the match against Seattle at CenturyLink Field will be broadcast live on ESPN.

Following two matches on the road against the New England Revolution (March 7) and Orlando City SC (March 14), the Fire will officially make its return to Soldier Field on Saturday, March 21 for its home opener against Atlanta United FC. Beginning at 2:30 p.m. CT, the game will be broadcast live on Univision.

In addition to the March 21 match against Atlanta, the Fire’s 2020 home schedule includes several marquee matchups. On Saturday, May 9, Chicago will host 2020 expansion side Inter Miami CF, marking the first-ever meeting between the two sides. The match against Inter Miami CF will be nationally televised live on ABC beginning at 2:00 p.m. CT.

The Fire will also host both teams from Los Angeles on national television in 2020. On Saturday, April 25, Chicago will face reigning MLS Supporters’ Shield winners, Los Angeles FC, at Soldier Field at 2:30 p.m. CT (Univision). The LA Galaxy will then travel to Chicago for its match against the Fire on Sunday, Aug. 9 at Soldier Field at 5:30 p.m. CT (FS1).

Fans can secure a seat for the Fire’s 2020 MLS home opener, or any home game of the regular season, through a variety of ticket packages. Beginning as low as $15 per game, season ticket packages for the 2020 campaign are available for purchase online or by calling 888-MLS-FIRE to speak with a ticket sales representative. Additionally, the Club is currently offering a Home Opener Holiday Pack, which includes two tickets to the game against Atlanta United and two scarves for just $49. Season tickets for children ages 12-and-under are also currently available for as low as $12.50 per game. Single game tickets for the entire 2020 season will go on sale at a later date.

Chicago will play 17 home games and 17 away games during the 2020 MLS campaign. The Fire will take on each of its Eastern Conference opponents twice, with one game at home and one away. Due to the addition of two expansion sides – Inter Miami CF and Nashville SC – Chicago will only face 10 of the 13 Western Conference teams in league play in 2020: Colorado Rapids, FC Dallas, LA Galaxy, Los Angeles FC, Minnesota United FC, Portland Timbers, San Jose Earthquakes, Seattle Sounders FC, Sporting Kansas City and Vancouver Whitecaps FC. This season the Fire will not play Houston Dynamo, Nashville SC or Real Salt Lake.

Of the Fire’s 34 regular season games, 10 will be broadcast live to a national audience in the United States. Univision will broadcast four Fire games, UniMás and ESPN will each air two matches, and ABC and FS1 will each broadcast one game in 2020. Six of the Fire’s 10 nationally televised games will take place at Soldier Field. The Club’s local television broadcast details will be announced at a later date.

The Club’s longest home stand of the 2020 season will occur from June 27 to July 11. During that stretch, Chicago will host Orlando City SC (June 27), New York City FC (July 5), Philadelphia Union (July 8) and D.C. United (July 11).
