Chesterton Art Center (CAC) invites you to celebrate the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. at their Third Annual Martin Luther King Day Celebration. The theme of the celebration this year is “Art Builds Community.” Participants will have the opportunity to create art celebrating the power of words. Visitors during the event will engage in word-based art projects, including a letterpress demonstration and activity led by Ida Short of the Goshen Printmakers Guild.

Along with opportunities to make art, the program will include an all-ages storytelling event in CAC’s gallery at 1 pm. Personal stories, poetry readings, and more are welcome. If you’d like to reserve a spot as a storyteller, please email Cara Schmitt, CAC Education Director, at programs@chestertonart.org prior to the event.
“Art Builds Community” will take place on Monday, January 19, from 10 AM–2 PM. Visitors can drop in anytime during the program. “Art Builds Community” is a free event, but registration is requested. Please visit www.chestertonart.org to register.
All visitors to the CAC during “Art Builds Community” will also be able to view the current exhibition on display, the “Chesterton Art Center Members Exhibition.” This annual exhibition highlights the diverse and exceptional talents of Chesterton Art Center’s members who represent a vibrant and growing creative community in the region. These participating local artists are key to CAC’s mission of fostering artistic expression and supporting regional talent. The exhibition features hundreds of artworks in a wide array of media, including painting, photography, sculpture, drawing, glass, wood, ceramics, and more.
Please visit www.ChestertonArt.org or call (219) 926-4711 for more information about “Art Builds Community” and all other programs at Chesterton Art Center.
