Canterbury Theatre, in association with Bossier Parish Community College (BPCC) in Louisiana, will present the musical comedy, Love Notes From A Distance, streaming online on December 17, 18, and 19, at 7:30 pm each evening.
Audience members will be able to enjoy the show from the comfort of their own homes, free of charge, via a link provided below.
The production continues the longtime collaboration between Canterbury Theatre and BPCC, spanning almost two decades.
Love Notes From A Distance is a musical comedy that juxtaposes popular songs that would have been heard in or about 1920 with short scenes that could occur in 2020.
Shakespeare’s Juliet warns Romeo, “do not swear by the moon, the inconstant moon.” In Love Notes, all the short scenes and songs are performed under the watchful eye of a constant moon that bridges the 100-year time-span, exploring the idea of whether love and its pursuit always lead to the desirable outcome.
Regardless of century, everyone has no doubt sent a literal or figurative love note expressing his or her feelings. Sometimes they fall short and result in heartache--sometimes they land and result in blissful happiness.
Conceived and directed by Canterbury Artistic Director, Ray Scott Crawford, who is Dean of Communication and Performing Arts at BPCC, the 45 minute production features a cast of 14, each showcased in solo songs or duet scenes.
Many of the performers are former Resident Company members from past Canterbury Summer Theatre seasons.
All areas of the BPCC Communication and Performing Arts Division (Theatre, Communication Media, and Music) have joined forces to create this unique and entertaining production.
The show has been rehearsed and produced using health guidelines to allow for safe interaction in response to COVID-19. Social distancing, masks, sanitizing, and controlled access have all played a vital role in this production.
Admission to view the production is free, but donations are encouraged, and can be made using the PayPal portal on the Canterbury Theatre website home page at http://www.canterburytheatre.org or mailed to the theatre at P.O. Box 157, Michigan City, IN 46361.
