Fri, 12/25/2020 - 1:09am by laughingcat

The events began on December 23rd  at approximately 12:45 a.m. when Trooper Israel Rosillo saw a vehicle on Kennedy Ave traveling northbound at 161st.  The vehicle, a blue 2011 Hyundai Sonata, was weaving across the lanes of Kennedy Ave.  A traffic stop was conducted with the stop turning into an O.W.I. investigation.  The driver failed field sobriety tests and later tested .19% B.A.C. (Blood Alcohol Content) on the certified test.  The driver was charged with misdemeanor O.W.I.

At approximately 4:00 a.m., Tpr. Rosillo was traveling west on I-80/94 near the 7 mile-marker when a gray 2019 Hyundai Tucson passed him at a high rate of speed.  Trp. Rosillo was able to catch up to the vehicle and checked its speed at 120 mph.  The speed limit is posted 55 mph on this area.  A traffic stop was initiated, and it progressed into an O.W.I. investigation.  This driver also failed field sobriety tests and later tested .14% B.A.C. on the certified test.  The male driver was charged with misdemeanor O.W.I. as well as Reckless Driving.

At approximately 8:00 p.m. on the 23rd, Tpr. Rosillo was again on Kennedy Ave. when he observed a black Ford Fusion traveling south near 171st in Hammond.  The driver of the Ford was weaving and crossed the center lane multiple times.  A traffic stop was initiated and as Tpr. Rosillo pulled the car over, the driver missed the turn to Orchard Dr. and drove onto the sidewalk.  This traffic stop also resulted in an O.W.I. investigation.  The female driver failed field sobriety tests and later registered .10% B.A.C on the certified test.  She was arrested and charged with misdemeanor O.W.I.

Trooper Rosillo specifically requested this news release be published to bring awareness to O.W.I arrests that are taking place this holiday season.  He, along with all of the Indiana State Police, encourage anyone who has been drinking not to drive.  Please call a friend, family member or a ride service and don’t risk not only going to jail, but potentially injuring an innocent person.
