**** Recommended If you and your family like holiday music, colorful costumes and awesome circus acts, Twas the Night Before by Cirque du Soleil is the show for you. Constantly changing lights illuminated the huge snowy shelf/slide on the Chicago Theatre stage as cast members leapt up and slid down! Cirque du Soleil performers never fail to amaze audiences with their strength and grace.
“The Greatest Show On Earth” starts and ends with a full ensemble performance. It runs a little over two hours with an intermission.
SuperMotoCross (SMX) is a new venture in dirt bike racing as of this year. The SuperMotocross World Championship Playoff raced at the Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet, Illinois, the final race takes place in California on September 23.
Monster Jam – Rosemont || Tonight was an epic show for Monster Jam! I have never seen a crowd this large at this event, it took an hour to get from the expressway exit to our seats.
**** Recommended **** After selling out a performance of "Late Night Catechism" during the winter, Theatre at the Center brought Sister back in "Put the Nuns in Charge", another in the "Nuns 4 Fun: series developed by Vicki Quade. Quade herself came to Munster for this performance and Mother Superior had everyone laughing. 3 ½ Spotlights
Theatre at the Center’s John Denver Musical Tribute starring Ted Vigil was a wonderful afternoon of music. Vigil said he’s not a John Denver imitator, rather he’s a John Denver tribute artist. He entertained the sell-out audience for just over 2 hours with a song list including most of Denver’s hits.
If you were a fan of Don Knotts, then Karen Knotts’ nostalgic tribute to her father, Tied Up in Knotts! is the show for you. Of course it’s full of stories, pictures and video clips from Knotts career, but there are a lot of family stories too.
Me and my review crew were unsure what to expect with this event. We have seen other “Live” events and “Truck” shows and this live action show was none of those. We arrived early for the advertised pre show event where props from the show were displayed on the stage and we could navigate through the area and grab a few photos. This is where we saw a dinosaur (Triceratops) upfront and personal. I am uncertain of the scale they are built to, but it is amazing to visually see the representation in size.
Monster Jam knows how to offer an evening of fun family entertainment. This show is phenomenal. The evening went a bit different than we anticipated. The monster truck, Stone Crusher, made its Chicago debut at this event. We have not seen the monster truck, Earth Shaker compete in this event before either, and he won the night. El Toro Loco, the fan favorite, didn’t win! So much drama and suspense, it keeps you sitting at the edge of your seat.
This just in: After five sold-out shows in September, Monster Jam will be back for another weekend of performances at Allstate Arena February 25th – 27th.
