On July 17, 2025, just after 6:00 p.m., the Indiana State Police and Carroll County Sheriff’s Office responded to a fatal crash on State Road 75 near County Road 485 South.

The Gary SouthShore RailCats couldn’t hold off a late surge from the Kane County Cougars, falling 3-2 Friday night at the Steel Yard despite leading for most of the game.

The Gary SouthShore RailCats announced today that Lamarr Rogers is no longer Field Manager of the organization. Additionally, the RailCats announce Jeff Isom as the fifth field manager in RailCats history. 

Rogers took over as the field manager of the RailCats prior to the 2022 season, after long-time manager Greg Tagert departed for a role with the San Francisco Giants organization. In his four seasons with the club, the RailCats had a record of 132-229. 

Right-handed pitcher Jacob Coats has been added to the East Division All-Star team, becoming the third player from the RailCats to represent the organization in Fargo. Coats will be joining Jairus Richards and Elvis Peralta, both will be starting the game on Tuesday.

Chicago Fire FC and Chicago Fire Academy today announced the coaching staff for the 2025-26 MLS NEXT season. The Academy welcomes the arrival of five new coaches and performance staff for the upcoming season.

After falling in the first two games of the series, the Lake Country DockHounds had an opportunity to take the series a day early against the Gary SouthShore RailCats. The two pitchers, Spencer Adams for Gary and Luke Hansel for Lake Country, were in a rematch with this being the sixth game in a row between the two clubs in the past week.

The Gary SouthShore RailCats faced off against the Lake Country DockHounds for the fifth straight time, the second time from Ococomowoc, Wisconsin. The red-hot Peyton Long faced off against Dominic Cancellieri. 

After Jairus Richards worked a walk and stole base number 38 for the franchise record, Elvis Peralta slugged a ball over the center field wall for his first home run of the season. The RailCats led 2-0. 

The stage of The Goodman Theatre in Chicago is currently aglow with a soaring production of “The Color Purple: The Musical.” The production runs through Aug. 3 at Goodman's Albert Theatre.
