With the 2024 Frontier League season in the final days, the award winners for 2024 were announced on Saturday afternoon and the Schaumburg Boomers picked up three honors.

Game two of the series between the Gary SouthShore RailCats and the Chicago Dogs was played on a gorgeous day in Northwest Indiana.

Back at home after 10-straight road games, the RailCats were back at the Steel Yard to finish out the 2024 season against the Chicago Dogs. Having lost five-straight games, the ‘Cats looked to snap their losing streak with the young right-hander, Andres Diaz facing the former Monarch, Connor Curlis. 

The Schaumburg Boomers came from behind to win a game for the 27th time this season, scoring an unearned run with two outs in the ninth to open the final weekend of the year with a 3-2 win over the Washington Wild Things in Pennsylvania and hold on to playoff position with just two contests remaining.

Drive sober or get pulled over. That’s the warning the Indiana State Police Lafayette Post is issuing to drivers as they gear up for the annual end-of-summer impaired driving enforcement campaign. Starting August 16 through September 2, the Indiana State Police Lafayette Post will join with officers across the state to increase patrols to crack down on those driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

The Schaumburg Boomers survived another nail-biter to record a 9-8 victory over the Evansville Otters in the final home game of 2024 and hold on to a slim lead over Lake Erie in the playoff picture.
