Beginning March 18th, to lessen strain on offenders and their loved ones the result the COVID-19 virus, Indiana Department of Correction (IDOC) officials worked with the telephone and video service provider to permit each eligible offender the opportunity for two five-minute-long phone calls, as well as one video visit of either 10 or 25 minutes each week and fee free. This agreement runs through April 14, 2020.

Mayor Thomas McDermott presented Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Northwest Indiana with a check for $400,000 from the City of Hammond on Monday. The funding is part of the city’s commitment to a $1.6 million capital campaign the organization launched to completely renovate Hammond Boys & Girls Club, a process that begins later this month.
