People who own a lamp that family and friends found to be hideous have entered them into the South Shore Convention and Visitors Authority’s Ugly Lamp Contest for a chance to win an iconic leg lamp just like Mr. Parker’s “Major Award” from the holiday movie classic, A Christmas Story.

As temperatures drop, MB Financial Park will kick off the holiday season with the opening of the Chicago Wolves Ice Rink and “Light Up The Park” tree lighting event Friday, November 24. “Rosemont looks forward to the opening of our ice rink every year, “said Rosemont Mayor Brad Stephens. “The additions of the ice rink and spectacular holiday lights transform our entertainment district into a winter wonderland and help make it a must-visit destination during this festive season.”

This holiday season, the “A Christmas Story” Comes Home exhibit, presented in collaboration with Warner Bros. Consumer Products, will be on display until Jan. 7th at the Indiana Welcome Center in Hammond. The exhibit takes visitors to the streets of downtown Hohman, a fictional Indiana town which was a disguise for author, Jean Shepherd’s, hometown Hammond.
