Legacy Foundation is thrilled to share an exciting new initiative as part of Press Forward Lake County!
Press Forward Lake County is our community-wide effort to strengthen local journalism, increase access to trusted news, and ensure residents stay informed and engaged.
A well-informed community is a stronger community—and this initiative is designed to support that mission.
As part of this effort, we’re launching the Legacy Foundation News Internship Program. This program will fund paid college internships at community-focused news organizations, helping to:

Strengthen local news coverage across Lake County
- Build journalistic skills for the next generation of reporters
- Deepen connections between newsrooms and the communities they serve
We’re asking YOU—our friends, supporters, and community members—to help spread the word. Share this with anyone who works at or knows a community-focused news organization.
Legacy Foundation will select two newsrooms to each host a part-time college intern for up to 16 weeks, with the option to extend the internship. Interns will be paid directly by Legacy Foundation.
What Legacy Foundation will Provide:
- One paid intern per selected organization
- Assistance in recruitment of the intern in collaboration with host organization
- HR administration (payroll, onboarding, taxes, etc.)
- Basic orientation and wrap-around support for interns
