Free family event: Dia de los Muertos Celebration
On Saturday, November 2 from 11am–4pm, South Shore Arts teachers are welcoming children and families to enjoy a celebration of Mexico’s beloved Dia de los Muertos. We’re honoring this day of festive remembrance with take-home crafts like traditional paper flowers and mask-making. Pre-registration is required.
Get a jump on the holiday shopping season: Maker’s Market
On Sunday, November 3rd from 1–3pm, the gift shop is kicking off the holiday shopping season with the Makers Market. This must-attend event for discerning gift givers, art collectors, and gift buyers features unique pieces from local artists and artisans, who will be on hand to answer questions about their work. From handmade jewelry, unique gifts, books, baked goods and more, there’s something for everyone. All purchases support South Shore Arts.
All of these events reflect South Shore Arts’ commitment to bringing new artistic experiences to northwest Indiana. “It’s a poorly-kept secret that our region is home to some of the most impressive artists in the Midwest,” says David Mika, executive director of South Shore Arts. “We’re delighted to inspire our communities by bringing them intimate access to all this local work and talent.”
