The masks are going being donated to local shelters as well as area nursing homes. Currently, the Indiana Department of Correction and South Bend Community Re-Entry Center have enough masks in stock to provide one for every offender and staff.
The men at SBCRC made over 1000 masks
Another group of men from the re-entry center have been busy writing cards and words of encouragement. The men have prepared several hundred letters of appreciation and thanks to the individuals that they deemed “Front Line Heroes.” The cards are being sent to first responders working with COVID-19 patients, local law enforcement, and firefighters, as well as National Guard soldiers. “The men were seeking out ways to support all the courageous people on the front lines, as well as the vulnerable. It is rewarding to see the men supporting the communities they will soon join,” said South Bend Community Re-Entry Center Warden, Charles Bowen.
