 Always wear your purse on your shoulder, slung in front of you, and keep it zipped up at all times. Never leave purses in your cart, even in the top part that is close to you.

 Always carry wallets in your front pocket when shopping or when in large crowds to avoid easier access to it by pickpockets.

 Beware of distraction techniques that are often used by pickpockets where they will bump you, ask for directions, or ask you to read a can label for them while an accomplice steals your wallet.

 Never leave your wallet or purse in an unlocked drawer or cabinet at work.

 Never hang purses on the back of your chair at restaurants, or place them onto the floor where they can be easily accessed by a pickpocket. They will often use their coat to hide their theft.
