• Never leave purses in your basket (as pictured), even if they are zipped up. Thieves will often use distraction techniques such as having an accomplice ask you for help with reading something, asking your for directions, or by bumping you while they quickly reach into your purse to steal your wallet or other items. Never leave purses unattended in carts.

• Keep your purse slung in front of you and zipped up at all times.
• Keep wallets in your front pocket while shopping or in large crowds to help prevent pickpockets from having easier access to them. Pickpockets will also often bump you or have an accomplice distract you while stealing you wallet from your back pocket.
• Never leave purses or wallets out in plain view while at work (on counters or under your desk). Keep your purse locked up in a drawer, cabinet or locker that only you and management has access to.
• When eating at restaurants, place your purse on your lap and keep it zipped up at all times. Never hang your purse on the back of your chair or place it underneath of your dining table. Thieves are very good at sitting next to you and using their coat or other distractions to steal your purse or wallet.
• Report suspicious individuals at businesses or who are wandering around aimlessly at your place of work in unauthorized areas to the police department immediately by calling 911.
