Preventing Thefts from Garages

  1. Home

Tue, 07/14/2020 - 4:29pm by laughingcat

Residents are encouraged to follow these important safety tips to help prevent items from being stolen from your garage:

• Keep the service door to your garage closed and locked when not in use. Consider installing a dead bolt to help prevent forced entry.

• Keep your overhead garage door closed when you are not inside of your garage or near it to help prevent crimes of opportunity where thieves drive by and see valuables inside.

• Use window treatments to help obscure the view of your valuables from outside of your garage.

• Keep your vehicles locked at all times, even if they are parked inside of your garage to prevent thefts of garage door openers and other valuables.

• If you are working your yard, keep the garage door opener with you so that thieves cannot strike while you are in your backyard or when you walk away
