This July, Memorial Opera House invites audiences to experience something truly special as The Penguin Project presents Disney's Finding Nemo Jr. July 10th – 12th.

While audiences will delight in the colorful underwater adventure of Nemo, Marlin, Dory, and their ocean friends, the heart of this production lies in the remarkable young artists bringing the story to life. Presented through The Penguin Project™, the production features artists with disabilities supported by peer mentors in a theatrical experience that builds confidence, fosters friendships, and celebrates the unique abilities of every participant.

Like Nemo himself, each artist embarks on a journey of courage, discovering they are capable of more than they ever imagined. Audiences will also encounter a vibrant collection of handcrafted puppets created by local artist Allison Carter and her mother. From colorful sea creatures to larger-than-life underwater characters, their work helps transform the Memorial Opera House stage into the world beneath the waves while highlighting the extraordinary talent found right here in Northwest Indiana. The impact of that journey is often seen in unexpected ways. During rehearsals, one artist who is typically nonverbal began communicating through their puppet character, finding a new avenue for expression through storytelling and performance—a powerful reminder of the transformative power of the arts.

Based on the beloved Disney and Pixar film, Finding Nemo Jr. features memorable songs including "Just Keep Swimming," "Fish Are Friends Not Food," and "Go with the Flow." Audiences can expect colorful puppetry, energetic musical numbers, and an uplifting story that resonates with all ages.
