Meet the 2020 Hoosier Star Youth Finalists!

The La Porte County Symphony Orchestra is proud to introduce the 2020 Hoosier Star Youth Finalists:

A New Prairie High School student, 16-year-old Jamileh Cornejo is now a two-time Hoosier Star finalist. She has also competed at both the State and Regional Fair and will be having her very first concert this September.

Julia Larson is a 17-year-old senior at Chesterton High School. She loves performing in musicals, playing such roles as Mother Abbess in the Sound of Music, Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz, Grace in Annie, and more!

Lily Belle Nuest is 17 years old, lives in Kouts and is currently a senior at KHS. She has starred in a number of musicals and she is also a member of the Teen Arts Board at South Shore Arts, a participant in the Fine Arts Academic team, the KHS Student Council and the National Honor Society.

Raul Mejia Palma is currently going into his senior year at La Porte High School. He first started to sing when he was a freshman in the New Prairie High School choir and he has played instruments for a lot longer. Raul plans to be in La Porte’s wind ensemble and jazz band.

Grace Phillips is 16 years old and attends Westville High School. Most recently being cast as Belle in Beauty and the Beast Jr. She is also a member of her school’s advanced choir where she has competed in many ISSMA competitions, earning 2 gold ratings at state this past year.

EVENT DETAILS

The 2020 Hoosier Star event will take place Saturday, September 12, 7:00 PM CDT. For the first time the event will be completely live-streamed and free to view on the following sites:

Hoosier Star will also be broadcasted via AM 1420, 95.1 FM and 106.7 FM (simulcast).

The 2020 Hoosier Star Adult Finalists will be introduced this time next week.

Each finalist will sing a song of their choice with musicians from the La Porte County Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Maestro Alastair Willis. 1st place Adult and Youth Winners will receive a $1,000 prize. 2nd place Adult and Youth Winners will receive a $500 prize.

Voting will take place during the competition at www.lcso.net. $10 donation per vote.
