It is critical that everyone participates in the 2020 Census. Results from the census will determine the amount of federal funding your community receives for programs including school lunches, road repairs, housing vouchers, education and medicare. Census data is also utilized to attract new businesses to local areas, planning for hospitals, forecasting future housing needs and drawing federal, state and local legislative districts.

Hear from Legacy Foundation staff on why the 2020 Census is important!

Since March, all households received invitation letters and postcards to complete the 2020 Census online or by phone. These letters include a unique Census ID, which will speed up the process of completing your Census form. If you already recycled your letters, you can easily complete your census form without your ID; an extra step of identifying your household address will be added.

Online
Completing your 2020 Census form online is safe, secure and quick to do! You can select one of thirteen languages and easily answer each question one-by-one. If at any time you don't understand a question, you will be able to click a "help" button which will provide details for the selected question. Get started by visiting the 2020 Census website.

Phone
If you prefer to respond via phone, simply call 844-330-2020 to complete the 2020 Census in English. To respond to the census in one of the additional twelve languages, please visit the language support page. For convenience, each language has its own phone number. All phone lines are open each day 6am-1am CST.

Mail
To respond via mail, you will need to complete the paper form that was mailed to your home. This envelope's return address will say "U.S. Census Bureau" and "U.S. Department of Commerce." Unfortunately, if you have already recycled this envelope, you will need to complete your household's form using one of the other methods. As of now, households will not be receiving a second paper form. View the Bureau's responding by mail page to learn more about responding by mail.
