Through portraiture painted in oil on uniquely shaped wood ‘canvases,’ self-taught Northwest Indiana oil painter Aonna Jones explores themes of motherhood, childhood memories, and the interconnectivity of individuals.

A celebration of poetry and multilingualism addressing critical issues: homelessness, gun violence, and hunger.
Supported by The Gary Youth Poet Laureate Society Foundation and Urban Word’s National Youth Poet Laureate Program, this event uplifts the voices of youth and community members. Together, we explore the intersection of the poetic, political, and personal, fostering dialogue and change through the transformative power of language. Participate in a poetry workshop-learn to create and share your voice.

Five Seasons: The Gardens of Piet Oudolf

After completing a feature documentary on New York’s High Line, award-winning filmmaker Thomas Piper met the inspirational designer and plantsman, Piet Oudolf, and the idea for a new project was born. The documentary immerses viewers in Oudolf’s work and takes us inside his creative process.

Creative Mending Clinic

The art of mending has taken on a new life of late – with artists and creatives finding new and interesting ways to extend the life of textiles and garments. In this workshop led by textile artist Jane Whedbee, participants are invited to bring in a favorite belonging needing repair and learn basic mending and cool ways to embellish their favorite things. All skill levels and genders are welcome!

Whether a long-time practitioner or a total newbie, this hour-long session will help you feel limber and refreshed. Instructor Mary Schons has over 20 years of yoga experience and brings much knowledge to her practice and teaching. Dress in comfortable clothes. Props and mats are provided but you can bring your own.
