Lubeznik Center for the Arts (LCA) is excited to welcome Nelsy Marcano as their Education Director effective July 19, 2021!

Nelsy, is a graduate of Columbia College of Chicago and holds a Master of Arts degree in Education from Indiana University Northwest. Most recently a staff member at the Tarkington School of Excellence in Chicago, she brings a wealth of arts education experience to LCA. Her experience includes teaching both adult and younger students, collaborating with sponsors and partners and curriculum development for programs.

Nelsy was born and raised in Northwest Indiana and has had a love of the arts her entire life. Although originally a premed student, Nelsy’s passion for art studies led her in a different career direction. An artist herself, Nelsy draws inspiration from organic forms and natural elements, and favors watercolor and colored pencils.

“Since experiencing the positive impacts that can be made on students who encounter art programming, my goal is to share my passion for the arts and create a safe space to be used for self-expression and creativity,” Nelsy shares. “LCA is a wonderful institution that shares this mission and I am so excited to be part of a group that is working to inspire our community.”

“I think Nelsy’s experience and spirit are a great fit for the team at Lubeznik Center for the Arts,” states Janet Bloch, LCA’s Executive Director.“ We are all looking forward to working with Nelsy and know that she will bring the depth of passion and excellence that everyone expects from LCA.”

Marcano currently lives in Hobart IN with her spunky two year old Pomeranian, aptly named Picasso.
