LaPorte County- On Friday, February 5th, charges were filed in LaPorte County against three Michigan City Fire Department members. The charges are a result of an investigation which started in November 2020 by the Indiana State Police District 13 Criminal Investigations Division. The investigation was in relation to a gathering of individuals at a residence in Michigan City on November 5th, 2020 and included off-duty Michigan City Firefighters. The Michigan City Police Department requested the Indiana State Police investigate the incident after an initial report was taken by their agency.
The individuals to be charged include:
- Scott Kaletha- Battery Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury- Level 5 Felony and Strangulation- Level 6 Felony
- Brad Kreighbaum- Battery Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury- Level 5 Felony
- Austin Swistek- Obscene Performance- Class A Misdemeanor and Battery- Class B Misdemeanor
All persons named in this release are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in court. All charges mentioned are merely accusations, actual charges will be determined by the LaPorte County Prosecutor's Office.
