HOW-TO: Voting in Indiana's 2020 Primary Election

THREE IMPORTANT DATES RELATED TO THE PRIMARY:

  • Monday, May 4, 2020: Voter registration ends
  • Thursday, May 21, 2020: Deadline to apply for an absentee ballot to vote by mail
  • Tuesday, June 2, 2020: Primary Election Day

YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO VOTE IN INDIANA IF:

  • You are both a U.S. citizen and a resident of Indiana; and
  • You will be at least 18 years of age on or before the next General or Municipal Election, and
  • You are not currently in prison after being convicted of a crime; and
  • You have lived in the precinct where you vote for at least 30 days prior to the election; and
  • You are registered to vote.

ARE YOU REGISTERED TO VOTE? DO YOU NEED TO REGISTER?

  • You can visit indianavoters.com to enter some basic information and find out if you are registered to vote.
  • If you find you are not registered to vote, indianavoters.com is also the website that will let you get that done electronically.

VOTING BY MAIL (ABSENTEE):

  • To vote by mail in the 2020 Indiana Primary Election, a registered voter must obtain, complete and submit a request form available here.
  • That completed ballot request form must be received by your county election board by 11:59 PM on Thursday, May 21, 2020. [Contact information for all 92 county election boards can be found at this website.]
