During the past several weeks, our Community Policing Unit provided stickers to every gas station in Munster while asking them if they would be willing to display them on their gas pumps. The stickers are yellow in color to help make them more visible and warn customers to lock their vehicle while they are pumping gas to help prevent purse thefts.
With warmer weather now here, at times customers will turn their back to their vehicle while pumping gas and thieves will hang around waiting for an opportunity to steal purses through open windows or unlocked doors.
ALWAYS lock your vehicle at gas pumps and roll up the windows.
