EVENTS AND ACTIVITIES AT PAUL HENRY'S ART GALLERY IN OCTOBER

October's gallery highlights include the opening of a new art exhibit on October 12th to benefit homeless Service Veterans, two Jazz fixtures, the return of Ed Brann's Rumba Drum Ensemble, and 5 Jam Nights including the 461st Jam on Wednesday, October 30, Halloween Eve.

WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 2, 7PM, Andy Sutton's Jazz Showcase returns to Paul Henry's with guest artist Adam Turman joining the regular trio of Sutton on drums, Kris Lohn on bass and the brilliant Di'Kobie Berry on vibes. Turman is an experienced saxophone and woodwind player who has taught in the area for several years and has been in demand to play with a wide number of local and regional bands. $10 cover.

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 3, 457th ACOUSTIC JAM, 7pm, $5 or $3 if you perform or bring a dish to the Potluck Table. No amps, no mics, just you and your instrument and the audience.

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 4, greenCOW PACE LAUNCH PARTY, 7-9P, Want to change the world...but lack resources? Have an Idea...but lack support? Your answer is coming! Find out what's next for greenCOW and what it means for you. Come to the greenCOW PACE Launch Party!

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 10, 458th ACOUSTIC JAM, 7pm, $5 or $3 if you perform or bring a dish to the Potluck Table. No amps, no mics, just you and your instrument and the audience.

SATURDAY OCTOBER 12, 1:00 PM, FREEDOM OF ART, the first in a series of art exhibits in Northwest Indiana and Chicago that will feature art created by Service Veterans.  All sales will be donated to a fund administered by the Angela King Foundation to help disabled and homeless Veterans through the construction of Tiny Homes for their occupancy.
Freedom of Art along with Operation Moving Up are two projects that seek to help our community by promoting art and ending homelessness. 
$5 suggested entry donation.

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 17, 459th ACOUSTIC JAM, 7pm, $5 or $3 if you perform or bring a dish to the Potluck Table. No amps, no mics, just you and your instrument and the audience.  

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 20, 2PM, Paul Henry's monthly Jazz Jam, hosted by Tom Matecki and his quintet.  A PA system is set up and those who would like to perform with the house band can join them after the break.  Vocalists are also welcome.  $5 cover.

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 24, 460th ACOUSTIC JAM, 7pm, $5 or $3 if you perform or bring a dish to the Potluck Table. No amps, no mics, just you and your instrument and the audience.

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 27, RUMBA DE LA REGION Cuban Rumba drum ensemble hosted by Ed Brann.  Appropriate instrumentation is provided and guests are invited to learn the form and join the experienced players as they converse through the rhythms of the drum.  $5 cover.

WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 30, HALLOWEEN EVE, 461st ACOUSTIC JAM, 7pm, $5 or $3 if you perform or bring a dish to the Potluck Table. No amps, no mics, just you and your instrument and the audience.  This is our annual Halloween Jam. Costumes are encouraged but not required.  Just fun!
